| Scope: |
This person develops and implements the curriculum to meet the goals of the Science Center of Iowa’s Preschool program. |
| Responsibilities: |
- Teach and direct classroom activities
- Prepare and maintain classroom for daily use
- Meet with the assistant teacher to devise daily plans and prepare materials for daily use
- Communicate monthly with parents through a calendar of events and a newsletter
- Communicate with parents on any discipline problems that might arise
- Prepare and conduct parent/teacher conferences twice a year
- Meet with preschools staff once a month for planning the activities of the ensuing month
- Attend and assist with all parent/preschooler special events during the school year
- Create and design classroom games and materials
- Maintain current teaching certificate
- Maintain current First Aid and CPR credentials
- Acquire four continuing education hours each year
- Have a physical examination every three years

| Requirements: |
- BA/BS degree in early childhood education or other related degree, with early childhood endorsement and certification in the state of Iowa
- Must have teaching experience in the public school systems and/or preschool teaching experience
- Must be well informed concerning the preschool child
- Must have above average teaching skills
- Must have a love for children
- Must have a keen desire to work with and teach preschoolers
- Must have MUCH patience
