| Scope: |
Intern will assist with duties as assigned by Communications & Development Teams. This is an excellent opportunity for any student seeking a broad range of introductory experiences within general business communications and community relations. |
| Responsibilities: |
Potentially including, but not limited to: o Help grow SCI presence through social media o Assist with website and email campaigns (html knowledge not required) o Submit SCI events to community calendars and partners o Field community giveaway requests and process charitable donations o Brainstorm and help fulfill agreements between SCI and promotional partners o Represent SCI team at external venues and community events o Attend internal special events and assist in event operations o Distribute marketing/promotional items as needed o Organize email databases and website usage reports
o Market and product research implementation o Assist with collateral production (trimming, stuffing, laminating, hanging signage) o Other duties as assigned, depending upon personal strengths/interests

| Requirements: |
o High School Diploma or G.E.D. o College coursework in Communication Studies, Business, Marketing, Journalism/English or other related field
Desired skills: o Excellent verbal and written communication skills; attention to detail o Thorough knowledge of social networking websites and strong computer skills o Ability to work with little supervision but work collaboratively with different team members o Willingness to try new things and assist with a wide variety of tasks o Enthusiasm and energy; out-of-the-box thinker o General understanding and knowledge of Des Moines area preferred o NOTE: This internship does NOT require prior knowledge of or coursework in science-related fields.

| Working Hours: |
o Primarily weekday daytime hours; some evening and weekend hours required o Duration of internship: Fall 2010 o Number of hours to be determined by candidate’s internship program requirements o Specific time schedule is flexible and will depend upon candidate’s availability
Compensation This internship is NOT paid an hourly wage. Alternate benefits include: o 1-year One + One Membership to SCI o 2 free IMAX tickets to each film showing through duration of internship o Free parking in downtown Des Moines through duration of internship
