The mission of the Science Center of Iowa is to be the highest quality resource inspiring scientific exploration through interactive education, programs and exhibits. From hands-on exhibits and live demonstrations to outreach programs across the state, SCI delivers cutting-edge technology and unique experiences to children, adults, school groups and families from literally every one of Iowa’s 99 counties.

SCI is a place where participants can build critical thinking skills and life skills through discovery, interaction, and fun! Experiences are changing and dynamic and are focused on “how” to learn not “what” to learn. By offering hands-on opportunities for our participants to strengthen their skills and abilities, SCI enhances the quality of life in our community and helps poise Iowans for success in our expanding global environment.

Annual fund contributions underwrite the unique opportunities for science and technology learning through live demonstrations, theater programs, early childhood education classes, and camps at SCI. This funding helps ensure that we continue to enhance critical thinking skills, as well as life skills of learners of all ages in a stimulating, interactive, and fun environment.

Capital Campaign

Since 2001, more than $60 million has been raised in a broad based effort toward the $61.9 million dollar project, which includes the building, SCI's Blank IMAX Dome Theater, the all new hands-on interactive exhibits, new science and skills-based program development, start-up support and endowment funds.

Your donation can be made at once or pledged over a period of up to five years. You will be recognized in the facility for any contribution over $500, so please let us know how you would like to be acknowledged. All gifts will be recognized in the SCI Annual Report.
