  • Join us Saturday, January 5, to celebrate space exploration with special space-themed activities and live programming! Plus, take advantage of your last chance to see traveling exhibition Facing Mars before it leaves SCI!

    Create your own mission patch, train like an astronaut, see the special NASA Shuttle Legacy Exhibit: Conquering Low Earth Orbit in Why the Sky?, take part in a special telescope workshop with Des Moines Astronomical Society, experience traveling exhibition Facing Mars and more!

    Space Spectacular programming and activities are included with SCI admission. Facing Mars tickets available at an additional cost; free for SCI members.

  • Train Like An Astronaut

  • Do you have what it takes to endure the challenges of space? Astronauts have to be in top physical condition to work in extreme conditions. Join SCI staff to “Train Like an Astronaut” and learn what it takes to fly into outer space. Lace up your gym shoes and get your heart pumping -- learn about the physical fitness, proper nutrition and problem-solving skills that it takes to be the next Neil Armstrong or Clayton Anderson!
