Science Center of Iowa Event Calendar

  • Café Scientifique: Cretaceous Coastlines
  • 5:30 PM
  • The Mississippi may be mighty, but 65-100 million years ago, a shallow sea split North America in half, connecting the Arctic Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico.

Using 75-million-year-old fossils, Dr. Cory Redman has studied how changes in sea level affected the diversity and distribution of non-marine animals that lived along the seaway. Join us to explore these findings and learn how the fossil record can be used to help study the effects of modern sea-levels rising.
