Science Center of Iowa & Blank IMAX Dome Theater Hours

SCI is open for extended hours the first and second Fridays of every month:

  • Mixology Night - The first Friday of every month (September - April) is exclusively for the 21+ crowd. Grab a cocktail and enjoy live music from local bands and adult-themed science programming! SCI open from 5:30 - 9:00 pm.
  • Family Night - The second Friday of the month is dedicated to families! SCI will have special programming, activities and presentations geared exclusively for you and your family. SCI open until 8:00 pm.

Wednesdays After Class: Enjoy half-price documentary IMAX tickets each Wednesday for the 1:15, 2:15, 3:15 and 4:15 pm showtimes! Children (ages 2-13) must be accompanied by an adult. Discounted tickets offered during the academic year and for documentary films only.

Military Discount: All active duty members of the military and their immediate family are entitled to the $2 off general admission year-round with proper identification. All military veterans and their immediate families are entitled to $2 off general admission on the following military holidays: Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, POW/MIA Day, Pearl Harbor Day and Veterans Day. Discount excludes traveling exhibitions and IMAX.

Holidays: The Science Center of Iowa & Blank IMAX Dome Theater is closed on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

Group Rates

SCI offers discounted rates and special visit packages to groups of 10 or more!

SCI is fully handicap accessible, and wheelchairs are available free of charge for use during your visit.

Small lockers are available to keep personal belongings for $.50 per time opened.
