Spark curiosity and wonder through play!
Pint Size Science (PSS) classes provide stepping stones for early learners to explore science topics and help parents/caregivers feel more confident being a STEM coach for their child.
Workshops are held for children, ages 3–5 years old with a caring adult, every Thursday from 9:15–10:15 a.m. during the month of October.
In celebration of SCI hosting the traveling exhibit Cats & Dogs The Exhibition, our PSS workshops will focus on our furry pets - cats and dogs. SCI staff will facilitate the age appropriate learning activity for the children while also giving the caring adults supporting prompts to actively support the learning process.
October 5 - “What Big Ears You Have!” – How do the shape of cats and dogs ears help them to hear?
October 12 - “Why Whiskers?” – How do cats and dogs use their whiskers to help them “see” better?
October 19 - “Play Like a Cat!” – What kind of toys do cats like to play with? Why?
October 26 - “Sniff Like a Dog!” – Why do dogs have such a good sense of smell?
- Individual Workshop: $19 per child; $11 for SCI members
- All Workshops: $76 per child; $44 for SCI members
*parent/adult is free and the ticket price also includes admission to SCI for the day.
Please Note: The All Workshops Package option is only available until October 5
The science behind the PSS program:
Pint Size Science classes are designed to reflect current brain research, which shows that academic learning is directly connected to emotion. Young children need a caring adult to share their early STEM experiences, and Pint Size Science classes provide opportunities for young children and their parent or caregiver to learn together.
