SCI IMAX theater closed following storm damage

DES MOINES, IA: The Science Center of Iowa’s Blank IMAX Dome Theater is closed until further notice following a week of storms in Central Iowa.

The theater sustained significant damage during storms on Monday, June 25, which was compounded by another round of record-breaking storms on Saturday, June 30. The theater will be closed as the organization assesses damages and determines next steps.

SCI’s exhibits, planetarium, live programming, camps, preschool, A-ha! Store and Food Chain Café are open and fully operational. Visitors can plan their visit at www.sciowa.org.
